Sit back. Think forward.

This project, in collaboration with the Swedish company Alfing Seating, aimed to design a new lecture hall chair. The company focuses on seating and proudly maintains its identity as Made in Sweden.
After developing a design brief that combined both the company’s values and users’ needs, two versions of a lecture hall chair were created. They were inspired by the twinflower: the provincial flower of Småland, where the company is based. Symbolizing companionship, it made the inspiration all the more meaningful. The design process included several stages, during which multiple options were explored. Particular attention was given to the armrest, inspired by the twinflower: its shape, angle, and width were carefully considered, along with additions such as wooden details or power rail.
One version has a formal appearance, with a functional and minimalistic look, while the other features a friendlier, more inviting design with pops of color and wood elements, as seen in the images below. A third additional concept, Venom, a company favorite, was designed for theaters or other character-rich spaces that stand out in style and atmosphere.
In addition to the chair designs, I went beyond expectations by redesigning Alfing’s logo and brand color palette to better reflect their core values. The new logo concepts merge the icon of a chair with the letter “A” for Alfing, while the color palette remains rooted in nature and Swedish identity.
