This project explores how meaningful furniture can be created by transforming damaged beetle-killed spruce wood into a high-value lounge table. Through collaboration with Sense By Us, the project followed a user-centered and iterative design process grounded in theories of industrial design, perception, and sustainability. The result is a sculptural lounge table that combines a curved organic wooden base with a geometric oval glass top. The design balances the principles of desirability, feasibility, viability, and sustainability, offering a concept that challenges how overlooked materials can be reimagined into durable and aesthetically expressive furniture. A full-scale prototype was produced as a final outcome.
